Medicaid Infrastructure Grant Research Assistance to States (MIG-RATS)

The Medicaid Infrastructure Grant Research Assistance to States (MIG-RATS) Center launched a website to provide resources and support to states implementing MIGs. The website is designed to help staff find research reports and resources, learn about MIG-RATS activities and initiatives, and connect with MIG researchers. The website includes info on topics such as Medicaid Buy-In programs, outreach and marketing, and youth in transition and also provides links to tools and a calendar of events. For more information, contact Anne Reither at areither@gmail.com or (435)757-9314.

Nebraska Ticket To Work Palliative Care Program

The Nebraska Ticket to Work Palliative Care Program is designed to assist individuals with disabilities manage chronic pain and discomfort that prevents them from acquiring or maintaining employment. Palliative care is an emerging practice that focuses on reducing the severity and symptoms of an illness or a disability rather than providing a cure. Although palliative care grew from the hospice movement, there are significant distinctions between the two. Palliative care is not limited to those in terminal stages of a disease; it is available at any point that symptoms present themselves. Work Incentive Network

Nebraska's foundation for a sustainable statewide work incentive planning and outreach infrastructure. THe goal is to increase the use of work incentives and earnings potential of beneficiaries.

Workforce Development Disability Navigator Collaboration

Provide training to persons with disabilities and professionals on how to use the core services of the 21 Career One-Stop Centers, supplementing with other services as needed (i.e.: avoiding auto-referral of people with disabilities to the “disability-specific” system). Collaborate with Disability Navigators on employer development, working with employers to educate and help create job opportunities for people with disabilities. This work includes consultation on assistive technology, ADA awareness, reasonable accommodation, etc. View the Navigator Program PowerPoint.

Young Adult Advisory Council (YAAC)

The purpose of the Young Adult Advisory Council is to allow young adults (age 18-25) to share ideas on how to improve the transition of healthcare from teens to young adults, as well as share personal experiences and provide young adult perspective.

Youth Employment Solutions Project (Project YES!)

The Youth Employment Solutions project is a subcontract of Nebraska’s Centers for Medicare and Medicaid funded Medicaid Infrastructure Grant.  The purpose of Youth Employment Solutions is to increase, through systems change, the competitive employment of Nebraska’s Supplemental Security Income (SSI), Social Security Disability Insurance (SSDI), and Childhood Disability Benefits (CDB) eligible youth who are transitioning from school to adulthood.  The Youth Employment Solutions project is also called 'Project YES!'.

Lincoln Community Team
The objective of the Lincoln Community Team is to increase the competitive employment amongst LPS youth with disabilities by educating students, parents and LPS about work incentive programs. By May 2008, the Lincoln community team will overcome barriers to employment for three LPS youth through education, work incentive use and multi-agency collaboration as measured by the competitive employment of these youth.

Region II Benefits Planning Collaboration (North Platte)
There are more beneficiaries with employment support needs and referrals for benefits counseling than can be served within the current capacity of the Social Security Administration WIPA (Work Incentive Planning & Assistance) contract to both adequately and timely serve the beneficiaries requesting services. The North Platte Project YES! Community Team has identified a solution to this employment barrier.  This pilot has identified a goal of "getting people employed faster through increased partnership." 

T.R.A.I.N. (York)
The purpose of TRAIN is to ensure that young adults (ages 18-24) with disabilities living in the York community transition from high school to employment and/or post-secondary education to become productive self-sufficient citizens.
